Marine Biodiversity in the EU Caribbean OCTs
Work
As Communications and Visibility Manager for the European Union-funded Resilience, Sustainable Energy and Marine Biodiversity programme, I led the strategic communications for all four (4) pillars of the programme, including the Marine Biodiversity work-stream, covering twelve (12) Caribbean Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) of the European Union.

The Marine Biodiversity programming focused on protecting vital ecosystems such as coral reefs, mangroves, and seagrass beds, while promoting sustainable fisheries, marine protected area management, blue economy solutions, and environmental education.
My role was to ensure that the critical importance of these efforts—both to the environment and the livelihoods of Caribbean people—was powerfully communicated across a range of audiences and platforms.

I developed and implemented a multi-channel communications strategy that brought marine conservation stories to life. This included producing high-impact videos in collaboration with award-winning Caribbean filmmakers, curating engaging digital campaigns, and shaping strategic messaging for regional and international stakeholders.

I also established and led a Community of Practice for Marine Biodiversity actors—a dynamic platform that fostered dialogue, learning, and visibility among implementing partners and prospective beneficiaries. These communications efforts helped to amplify the voices of Caribbean stakeholders, elevate the profile of biodiversity-focused initiatives, and reinforce marine conservation as a key driver of sustainable development in the region.
