Sustainable Energy in the Caribbean
Work

In my role as Communications Consultant to the EU-funded Technical Assistance Programme for Sustainable Energy in the Caribbean (TAPSEC), I led the creation and regional implementation of a comprehensive Communications and Visibility Strategy across the Caribbean Community and its five (5) Associate Member Countries.

My work was instrumental in amplifying the European Union’s commitment to climate resilience and a sustainable energy future for the Caribbean.

This involved developing strategic narratives, facilitating stakeholder engagement, and translating complex technical interventions into relatable, compelling content for varied audiences. Through coordinated campaigns and curated messaging, TAPSEC’s sustainable energy achievements — from data and knowledge management to innovative financing — were made visible at both the national and regional levels.

Highlighted Initiatives

  • Credit Risk Abatement Facility (CRAF)

One of the key interventions spotlighted under my communications leadership was the launch of the Credit Risk Abatement Facility (CRAF), developed by the CARICOM Development Fund (CDF) in collaboration with GIZ and regional stakeholders.

Designed to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) within the energy sector, CRAF improves access to financing for sustainable energy services. My role involved positioning this facility as both a tool for economic empowerment and a step toward greater energy independence for the Caribbean.

  • Caribbean Energy Knowledge Hub (CEKH)

Another major initiative was the regional stakeholder forum for the Caribbean Energy Knowledge Hub — a cornerstone of CARICOM’s Sustainable Energy Roadmap and Strategy (C-SERMS). The CEKH aims to reduce transaction costs for renewable energy projects by improving access to data, analytics, and decision-making intelligence. I worked to communicate the significance of this platform to regional audiences, ensuring alignment with SDG 7 targets and global clean energy trends.

Both initiatives received technical and financial support under TAPSEC, delivered by GIZ with funding from the European Union (EDF 11) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Through this work, I contributed to positioning the Caribbean not just as a recipient of sustainable energy solutions, but as a proactive innovator on the global stage.
